Overview
Alignable is the largest online referral network for small business owners in North America, with more than 10 million members across over 35,000 local communities. Its paid memberships, Alignable, Premium, and Premium+ — are billed monthly to business owners on personal and company cards. FlyCode recovers the failed membership renewals that would otherwise slip through, turning them into recovered revenue automatically.

Intro: the Alignable product
Alignable helps small business owners grow through word-of-mouth — connecting them with other owners in their area and industry to exchange referrals, build partnerships, and find new customers. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Boston, it has become the go-to networking platform for millions of independent businesses, with free profiles plus paid tiers that unlock more reach, connection credits, analytics, events, and live support.
Alignable runs a consumer-style subscription business at scale. A large, geographically dispersed base of members pays month after month on personal cards — many arriving on a free profile before converting to a paid membership. Every recurring charge that succeeds keeps a member active in the network; every one that silently fails is a member at risk of dropping out.
The challenge
Alignable’s recurring revenue depends on every monthly membership charge going through. Failed payments on those subscriptions were a large and largely silent source of lost revenue:
Involuntary churn: members were cut off by a failed renewal, not by any decision to leave. On a network product, that is more than lost revenue — it pulls an active participant out of the community right when their habit and momentum are building.
Generic retry logic: default retry settings apply one fixed schedule to every failure and don’t adapt to how different card issuers behave — especially costly across a large, diverse base of personal cards billed on different days of the month.
Disconnected recovery: retries and member dunning emails weren’t synchronized, adding confusion and pushing some members to simply give up on the renewal rather than update their card.
Trial-to-paid drop-off: members converting from a free profile to a first paid charge are the most fragile — a single generic decline on that first renewal can end the relationship before it starts.

The FlyCode approach
FlyCode sits on top of Alignable’s existing Stripe billing, no migration, no engineering lift. Machine-learning models decide the optimal time and way to retry each failed charge based on issuer behavior and network signals from FlyCode’s Mastercard and Visa data partnerships, and synchronize retries with member communications so the recovery experience feels seamless. Pricing is outcome-based: Alignable only pays on revenue FlyCode actually brings back.
The Impact
Alignable boosted ARR by 5.6% with FlyCode.
By plugging FlyCode into their existing Stripe billing, Alignable turned failed subscription payments into recovered revenue, automatically and with no added operational load:
21% increase in recovery rate, sustained month over month versus the previous generic retry logic.
5.6% ARR boost, captured straight from revenue that was already leaking.
17x ROI under pay-on-recovery pricing, so Alignable only pays on revenue FlyCode brings back.
In addition to revenue lift, the improved recovery experience reduced unnecessary customer frustration, protecting retention and keeping expansion on track.
